This is my first short film called 'He Got Hurt'. Ollie is reading letters with his daughter, Maxine.
I feel like I have managed to achieve a lot of that glum emotion into Owatta.
If I were to reanimate this film, I would add more life into Maxine since often people mistake her as a soft toy. I would make the outside and the house walls seperate layers for a more convenience. I also would add more secondary movements to the walk cycles, mostly the hair bouncing and arms moving slightly.
I wanted the titlecard to answer the question of "Why is Ollie upset?" Thus the portrait of Owatta. I wanted to establish that Owatta is someone who is very close to him, which I feel I managed to achieve it with this unique frame that gives the impression that it's made from clutter found near a beach. I feel like I could have done a bit more exploration of the portrait itself, perhaps I could have done research into the types of photos that romantic couples would have of eachother. In the end, the final portrait is sufficent to convey a sense of preciousness.
